You can encrypt your completed PDFs so that they are only viewable by those with the password. This protects all methods of accessing the completed PDF, including email notifications and through the submissions manager.

NOTE: This is different than encrypting data on a field-by-field basis, as it encrypts the entire PDF and not individual fields. This setting can only be accessed by the forms Author however anyone with the password can decrypt the completed PDF. PDF Encryption is only available on SeamlessDocs with at least one signature. This feature is not available on WebForms.

How to Enable PDF Encryption

  1. From the Doc Editor, click Settings then Advanced.

  2. Choose Encryption Options and toggle Enable PDF Encryption to ON. *Please note that only Form Authors will have access to this option*

  3. Create the password that will be required to view the PDF and click Save.

Please note you will not be able to access your submissions if you include any special characters in the password.

4. Then, once you view it in your submission manager or email notifications, you will be prompted to enter the password.

If at any point you wan't to turn off this encryption, then you will need to follow the same steps as above and select OFF

How to Remove Encrypted PDFs from Your Email Notifications

As mentioned above, Encrypted PDFs will also appear in your various email notifications (Submission Notifications, Submission Receipts, Document Completion, and Signature Completed). To remove the PDFs from appearing in these emails, you will need to turn off Link to PDF and PDF as Attachment from your various email notifications. At this time, there is no way to both have an Encrypted PDF and have it appear not Encrypted in your email notifications.
